FREEFunctional Resume
A skills-based resume with three or four competency sections, each holding bullets drawn from any point in your history, followed by a brief dated employment list.
FREEA hybrid resume for people moving into a new field, opening with a targeted summary and grouped transferable skills, then a chronological history with bullets rewritten around the target role.
The sample is a teacher moving into corporate learning and development. Replace it with your own transition.
The summary names the target role and the two or three strengths that transfer. The skills section groups them under headings the new field uses. Experience keeps dates and titles but the bullets describe outcomes in the new field's language. Certifications or courses for the new field go near the top. If your history is very far from the target, the Functional Resume goes further. Common destinations have their own layouts: the Junior Data Analyst Resume, Customer Success Resume and Digital Marketing Specialist Resume.
Keep the resume factual and put the story in a short cover letter; the cover letter guide shows how. This layout is one of the career change resume templates, and the tailoring guide helps pull the right language from each posting.
